LEARNING BEYOND THE CORE

Mon–Thu · 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Learning Beyond the Core: Afternoons Built for Curiosity.

Three hours of hands-on, creative, project-based learning — Monday through Thursday, 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. For children who want more from their day, and families who want more from their school.

Three hours of enrichment. Every afternoon.

Learning Beyond the Core is a three-hour afternoon block offered Monday through Thursday, from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. It extends the morning's bilingual learning through art, science, movement, and open-ended projects in a social, mixed-age setting. Self-management skills like time management, goal-setting, collaboration, and flexible thinking are woven throughout every session.

This block is ideal for two kinds of families: those who attend Core Instruction in the morning and want a full, enriching day at iBis, and homeschool families who handle core academics at home and want high-quality bilingual enrichment and peer community in the afternoons.

Art & Creative Exploration

Open-ended creative projects that build expression, fine motor skills, and imaginative thinking in both languages.

Science Discovery

Hands-on science exploration that builds curiosity, observation skills, and a love of inquiry.

Movement & Social-Emotional Development

Structured movement and cooperative activities that build body awareness, teamwork, and emotional regulation.

Self-Managment Throughout

Time management, goal-setting, collaboration, and flexible thinking woven into every session.

Bilingual All Afternoon

English and Spanish flow through every activity — extending bilingual development beyond morning academics.

Mixed-Age Peer Community

A social, collaborative setting where children build friendships and practice cooperation across age groups.

Built for children ages 4 to 9.

Learning Beyond the Core meets each age group where they are — joyful exploration for younger children, deeper project-based inquiry for older ones.

Ages 4–6

Play, Explore, Create

Pre-K4 through Kindergarten

Afternoon sessions for this group focus on play-based exploration, creative expression, science discovery, and social-emotional development. Children build self-management habits like impulse control, task persistence, and cooperative play in a joyful, low-pressure environment.

Ages 6–9

Inquire, Collaborate, Build

1st through 3rd Grade

For this group, Learning Beyond the Core extends morning academics through deeper project-based inquiry, collaborative challenges, and creative problem-solving. Children practice time management, goal-setting, and flexible thinking while working on interdisciplinary projects that connect language, science, math, and the arts.

Standalone enrichment or part of a fuller schedule.
